How to Look Well Rested Even When You’re Not

Picture of me

Ah, I almost look like a fully functional human being who had slept for 8 hours and who isn’t tired at all.

I don’t usually look like that.

Most days, I look like this…

me and my baby

My husband says I still look like a queen to him, bless his heart, but we both know that that isn’t one of my best looks. Messy hair, don’t care!

Now, I don’t go out looking like that second picture. When I have to do some errands outside, or have to meet people, makeup is my bestfriend.

You don’t have to be a makeup guru to fake an “I’m-totally-awake-and-listening-to-you” look. And believe me, I’m no expert. But I do know a thing or two, or three.

I think I did a pretty decent job with my look here. For someone who doesn’t know how to contour, pwede na rin, ‘di ba?

These simple tips are, well, simple. Look well rested even when you’re  not by doing these:

Prep your skin first.

Exfoliate. In the shower, use a body scrub, and a face scrub for your face,  with an energizing scent, or you can make your own homemade scrub.  Removing dead skin cells will instantly brighten your complexion.

Moisturize. Lack of sleep can make the skin look dry and dull. Moisturize to rehydrate your skin.

De-puff your eyes. Put two spoons in the refrigerator for a few minutes, you can also use tea bags (save them after you drink your tea). Once chilled, put them over your eyes. Leave them for 15 minutes.

After you have prepped and primed your skin, use these makeup hacks to look wide awake:

  1. Grab your trusty concealer. Draw upside down triangles under your eyes, covering those huge Louis Vuitton’s (those eyebags, honey). With  a makeup sponge or with your clean fingers, pat it to blend on your skin. Don’t drag, just pat,  so as not to stretch your skin. We don’t want premature wrinkles. Set with your favorite foundation or powder. Make sure to blend well. You don’t want to look like a raccoon.
  2. Use white eyeliner on your lower lids. This will make your eyes seem bigger and more awake.
  3. Put on your favorite shade of lipstick or tint. Adding some color will also brighten your mood. You’ll instantly feel sexy and confident. I prefer lip tints most days.

And that’s it, you’re good to go! So easy, right? Don’t you just look fabulous! Now, no one will be able tell you spent the entire night scrolling down on Facebook, or binge watching K-dramas! *wink*

But seriously, mothers are one of the most overworked people in the world. Madalas huling natutulog, tapos kailangan unang magigising. It’s a 24/7 job, no dayoffs. Remember to take a break once in a while, so you won’t feel burned out. A little self-love won’t hurt.
